Chief Investigator Randy Bogan has 30 plus years in Law Enforcement. He is ABMDI certified with the American Board of Medico legal Death Examiners. Randy has worked the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office as a Uniform Patrol Officer for 11years, a Narcotics Officer for 4 years and Forensic I. D. Officer for 10 years. Chief Investigator Bogan has been with the Coroner's Office for 12 years. He is an expert witness is crime scene investigation and marijuana analysis.
Randy is the recipient of the 2005 Solicitor's Office Award, Deputy Coroner S C Coroner's Association Award and Coroner's Investigator of the Year Award. Chief Investigator Bogan has been a driving instructor for SCCJEA for 12 years. He has obtained certificates on the state and federal level in basic and advanced DNA collection, Facial Identification of FBI Academy, basic and advanced photography school, blood stain analysis school and Marijuana eradication and analysis school.
He is a current member of the SC Coroner's Association, ABMDI Medical Legal Examiners, the International Homicide Investigation Association, Arson Investigation, SC Coroner's Association and SC Law Enforcement Officer’ s Association.
Assistant Chief Investigator Jonathan Lawson has 15 plus years in Law Enforcement. During his career, Assistant Chief Lawson was employed with the Spartanburg City Police Department as a Narcotic investigator assigned to the FBI Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and a K-9 Handler. Assistant Chief Lawson has also been employed with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office for several years, where he was assigned as the supervisor with the Crime Scene unit, in which he was responsible for all Homicide and Violent crime investigations which involved crime scene documentation, evidence collection, and evidence processing. He is a member of the Coroner’s Association and the South Carolina Division of the international association for identification. Assistant Chief Lawson has obtained extensive training in wound pattern analysis, shooting incident reconstruction, marijuana analysis, crime scene investigator school, coroner’s school, medico legal death investigation, autoerotic death investigation, Crime Scene reconstruction, latent print examination and Identification, Hazmat operations, grade crossing collision investigation, Advanced Homicide Investigation and many other specialized training fields. Mr. Lawson also recived Solicitors 2019 award for Investigative Excellence. Assistant Chief Lawson is a native of Spartanburg County and graduate from Paul M. Dorman High School.
Investigator Jeanne Burnett has been with the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office since 2014, named Investigator of the year in 2016.
Prior to becoming a full-time investigator, she worked as a reserve officer for the Coroner’s office for several years.
Investigator Burnett is a native of Spartanburg County where is graduated from Boiling Springs High School. She is currently working on her BA in Criminal Justice from Columbia College.
She has had specialized training in Child Death Investigations, Homicide Investigations, Blood Pathogen, Blood Spatter Analysis, Mass Fatality, Entomology, Elderly Abuse and Death, Forensic Photography, Train Fatalities, Chemical Deaths and Devastation, Crime Scene Investigation and Human Trafficking, Forensic Pathology, Clandestine Grave Recovery and Grade Crossing Collision Investigations.
Jeanne is a member of The South Carolina Coroners Association, The South Carolina Law Enforcement Association and The City of Spartanburg’s Cold Case Team.
Investigator Burnett has also furthered her career by becoming a member of The American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.
Investigator Celeste Cash is a graduate of Gaffney High School in 2012 and holds an Associate's degree in General Studies with American Military University. She went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps between 2014-2019. During her time in the Marine Corps, her Military Occupational Specialty was Military Police and she was stationed in Quantico, Virginia. Investigator Cash led a specialty unit known as the Combined Anti-Terrorism Action Team where she was able to work alongside the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Criminal Investigations Division. She is certified in CPR/AED with the American Heart Association, Surveillance Detection with NCIS, Company Level Intelligence with USMC, and Drug Interdiction with the DEA. Investigator Cash began working for the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office in September of 2019.
Investigator Jonathan Nix is a native to Spartanburg County and has been with Coroner’s Office since September of 2019. Investigator Nix began his career in law enforcement in 2000 at the Landrum Police Department. He has since served in the private sector for the last 18 years as an Organized Retail Crimes Investigator and Supervisor. Investigator Nix was awarded investigator of the year 15 consecutive years. Investigator Nix also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Startex Fire Department and worked EMS for several county Rescue Squads. Investigator Nix was a certified Phase III firefighter, Intermediate EMT and Hazmat Technician. Investigator Nix has obtained extensive training in surveillance, counter surveillance detection, handwriting analysis, interview and interrogation and identifying counterfeit documents.
Investigator Jessica Ervin has passionately held positions in Spartanburg County for over 20 years in first response, emergency care, and advanced pre and postmortem care/ investigation. Ervin has also had endeavors as a contractor for the US Government in armed security and Site Security logistics overseas. She enjoys globetrotting with her husband of 22 years, experiencing diverse cultures, and bringing her enlightenment back to her home state. When not in her full-time role as an investigator, she divulges herself in nature, gardening, family, and visiting WNC, where she was born and raised. Her family instilled hard work, independence, self-sufficiency, patriotism, and inner strength in Ervin. She was raised on the family farm, watched her blue-collar Mother and Father rise to respectable leaders by grit, and respected and value realms of her family's 5th generation sawmill heritage. Ervin is proud of her background and is confident her early platform, values, and experience will ensure families entrust a thorough and complete assignment. Inv. Ervin is honored to work for Spartanburg County's patrons and provide absolute respect and care for loved ones.
Investigator Skylar Henderson grew up in Landrum, South Carolina where she graduated from Landrum High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College. Investigator Henderson studied criminal justice and radiology. Investigator Henderson works in early child development and coaches basketball for Landrum Middle School. Investigator Henderson is looking forward to furthering her career and knowledge with Spartanburg County Coroner' s Office.
Investigator Rick McCraw has been with the Coroner's Office for 4.5 years. He has an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. Investigator McCraw is a graduate of South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Basic Law Enforcement with other specialized training. Rick has over 26 years of law enforcement experience with employments with the SC Department of Corrections, Spartanburg City Police Department and the Seventh Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Investigator McCraw retired as a Chief of Investigators with the Seventh Circuit Solicitor's Office. He has experience in uniform patrol, criminal investigations, crime scene videography and photography, interview and interrogations skills, child interview, crime prevention and community relations, prosecutorial case preparations, jury selection and evidence custodian. Rick is certified by the International Association for Property and Evidence as a property and evidence specialist. Investigator McCraw is a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association and the South Carolina Coroner's Association. He is a volunteer for the Guardian Ad Litem and with the American Cancer Society.
Investigator Mark Link is a U.S. Army Veteran and the Vice President of an electrical business here in Spartanburg. He joined the Coroner's Office in 2015. Investigator Link volunteers his time to his community and the Coroner's Office. Mark is a member of the South Carolina Coroner's Association.
Investigator Monica Link has an Associate's Degree in Marketing/Business, Paralegal Degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She attended Greenville Technical College, USC and Converse College. Investigator Link joined the Coroner's Office in 2015. Monica is the Office Manager of the family business and volunteers for her community. She is a member of the South Carolina Coroner's Association.
Investigator Blair McKinney grew up in San Diego California before moving to the upstate in 2012. Blair graduated Riverside High School, and started with childcare, as well as respite care specializing in medically fragile cases. Investigator Blair is certified in Infant and Adult CPR. Blair volunteered with Hope Center for Children and Gibbs Cancer Center and loves to work with local animal rescues. Investigator Blair McKinney is looking forward to furthering her career and knowledge with Spartanburg county coroner' s office.
Investigator Paul Roper has over 26 years of law enforcement experience. Paul served with the Spartanburg police Department before retiring. While at the police department Paul served in many roles beginning as a patrol officer before becoming a traffic officer for the department. Paul was promoted to sergeant where he served as the departments head training officer for four years before becoming the supervisor over the traffic unit and the collision reconstruction unit. Paul has over 1000 hours of training in the field of accident reconstruction and has taught many law enforcement classes for the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy where he was a certified instructor. Paul is a native of Spartanburg and is married with three children. Paul joined the Coroners office in 2020.
